What to Watch on Netflix When High This Month

April 3, 2019, 4:20 PM

Few things in life are better than unwinding at the end of a long day, or week, with a little weed and a little Netflix. No matter when you set out to perform this ritual, you don’t want to be stuck without anything to watch.

Luckily, we understand, and we’ve got you covered. Once your sufficiently high, here’s your perfect Netflix watch list.

Light it up, breath it in, and enjoy!

A Monster Calls

With a straight forward plot and stunning visuals, you cannot go wrong with this flick. This coming of age tale totally bombed at the box office but don’t let that turn you off. It is heartfelt, touching, and a little surreal. Ideal for those smoke sessions where you don’t mind feeling feelings. Oh, and did we mention there is a talking tree?

Larva Island Season 2

Larva Island is perfect for those times when you’re so high that all you want is to have a little silly fun. These South Korean animated shorts follow two larvae, Red and Yellow, through some pretty interesting situations and slapstick comedy ensues. Think the Three Stooges meets the surreal and grotesque. Life in a gutter has never been so entertaining!

Space Jam

This movie is a classic. Settle in and be transported back to a time when you lived for the Looney Tunes universe, a more innocent time before Lebron James was breaking hearts in Toronto. Watching Michael Jordan team up with Bugs and the gang for a game of hoops is legendary. The quest to keep the Looney Tunes from being enslaved in an amusement park by a race of aliens is epic when you are straight, it will only get better when you are stoned. Remember the Monstars anthem “Hit ‘em High?” How great was 90s hip hop?!. And can you ever go wrong with a movie that has a Bill Murray cameo?

Our Planet

You’ll have to wait until April 5th for this one but trust us, the wait will be more than worth it. As many of you already know, no couch locked indica high is complete without a nature show. But not just any nature show. You need a nature show with David Attenborough. For fans of Planet Earth, Frozen Planet, Blue Planet, Human Planet, and Africa, this Attenborough/Netflix partnership is sure to satisfy. Settle in, smoke up and prepare to be transported to a world more beautiful than you could ever imagine. All life on this planet is connected and this series, combined with the contents of your most recent cannabis delivery, will make you feel like a part of something greater than yourself. Deep.

Umbrella Academy

Picture it, 1989, 43 women around the world simultaneously give birth only none of them showed any signs of pregnancy before going into labour. 7 of those children are adopted by a billionaire and turned into a team of superheroes through the Umbrella Academy. Flash forward, the “siblings” are estranged from one another but reunite after their adopted father’s death. They try to unravel the mystery of their birth while fending off an imminent global apocalypse. Who doesn’t love a good origin story tied up within a good ol’ fashioned superhero fight to save the world?

Originally, this series was going to be a movie from Universal Pictures so prepare yourself for a real cinematic experience. The visuals are stunning and the acting is top shelf. Once again, Netflix has outdone itself by creating a really great original series. This series was mostly filmed in the six so it makes sense to celebrate it with a little cannabis, Toronto!

Russian Doll

This comedy-drama series has been getting a lot of buzz. Which, naturally, makes it perfect viewing for your buzz. This series is Groundhog Day, only next level. The lead character, Nadia, is stuck in a loop that finds her repeating her 36th birthday party over and over again. No matter what happens to Nadia, even dying, she finds herself back at the party. The mystery is intense, the layers are plenty, and you’ll not want to stop watching. Russian Doll is best for weekends, holidays, or bad weather hibernations because, trust us, you’ll want to binge this one. Each episode pulls you into the next! There are lots of theories out there about the “true meaning” of this story so why not rip a bowl and see if you can’t figure it out for yourself. Mysteries are great, weed makes them better.

Happy Gilmour

If you’re stoned, nostalgic, and looking for a reason to laugh, it might be time to rewatch Happy Gilmour. This Adam Sandler classic is an underdog tale full of hilarious twists and turns. A failed hockey player, turned golf pro, why not? And who doesn’t want to see Bob Barker in a fist fight? Say it with us “The price is wrong, b*tch!”
